First Person Experience - Local Shopper

  • A local inner city resident is one of the thousands of inner-city residents who don't own a car
  • She is able to ride the monorail from the valley to the CBD and decides to buy some new clothes at a couple of stores in the centre.
  • After buying a couple of garments at more than one retailer, she decides to buy some groceries on her way out.
  • While making her purchases she had the retailers send her garments down to customer pickup where they will be stored until she is ready to collect them and head home.

  • At the supermarket, a phone app (supplied by the supermarket chain) is used to scan the QR codes of the items she wants.
  • The items are automatically charged to her bank account, before the supermarket staff prepare her grocery order and transport it down to the pickup area

  • On her way out of the centre, she collects her purchases from pickup, and heads to the nearest pod platform.
  • A pod is charging and waiting at a berth. The destination is entered via the touch screen kiosk and the glass doors open
  • A "close door" button is pressed inside the pod after entering and sitting, which signals the pod to close up and reverse out of the berth before driving out.
