First Person Experience - Delivery of Goods

  • A truck arrives at one of the pod loading platforms located at various locations around the car free district.
  • The truck backs up to a dock face where numerous freight pods are berthed
  • A driver wheels a pre-packed pallet container into one of the freight pods using a standard pallet jack
  • The driver sends the pod to its destination (Myer centre) using the touch screen kiosk.

  • The freight pod arrives at the Myer Centre via the PRT network and berths at the general loading docks on level basement 2

  • Staff wheel the pallet container out of the pod and take it to the stock handling and storage area

  • In the stock handling area containers are unpacked and goods are taken up to their recipient businesses via the service lifts or stored away for later delivery

  • Goods are delivered to retailers
